There are still hundreds of people at the site and police have been stood outside for more than 24 hours. The rave started in the early hours of Sunday morning in an area of land between Brechfa and Abergorlech in Carmarthenshire. Having stopped at around 6pm on Sunday night, there was hope among local residents that the rave had finished completely.
Police have been at the scene since around 1. Three police cars and a police 4x4, together with a number of officers, are outside the rave site still stopping people from entering. As the main road into the rave has been blocked, more and more people have been parking on the sides of the road, abandoning their cars and trying to gain entry via other routes, after police admitted that the number of people inside makes it virtually impossible for them to make a safe attempt at dispersing the crowd.
People have been seen leaving the site on Monday morning and walking along the B towards Brechfa and Nantgaredig, suggesting that the event may be coming to an end. Caroline Evans, who lives in the village of Gwernogle, just north of the rave site, was unable to sleep all night as the sound reverberated through the Brechfa forest.
Another resident, who lives in Brechfa, says she feels for the policemen and policewomen on duty because some locals are becoming angry and frustrated. I feel sorry for the police officers as they must be so frustrated. I really commend them for their attitude. However, she also says that more could have been done to at least control the volume of noise, and that in future something has to be done before this kind of event gets off the ground.
And they only did that because they were monitoring Facebook and saw that people were talking about taking matters into their own hands. A police helicopter was deployed above the site on Sunday morning to try to understand the scale of the gathering.
Police have not disclosed any information about how many people they believe have been inside but it is thought to be in the hundreds. One resident said, having been there on Sunday morning, that there could have been more than 1, people in attendance at one point.
